Sometimes, I’m able to flesh out a proper article, and sometimes, offer only scattered thoughts:
-
The stronger our ego, the stronger our fear of death. The stronger our fear of death, the stronger the urge to leave a legacy. The stronger the urge to leave a legacy, the stronger our focus on results. The stronger the focus on results, the stronger the urge to care about the destination than the journey. The stronger the focus on results, the lesser the tolerance for mistakes. The lesser the tolerance for mistakes, the greater the focus on perfection. The greater the focus on perfection, the stronger the fear of failure. The greater the fear of failure, the lesser our consideration for our flaws. The lesser our consideration for our flaws, the stronger the sense to disown a part of ourselves. The stronger the sense to disown ourselves, the faster the breakdown. The stronger the fear of breakdown, the greater the urge to hold everything together. The greater the urge to stay afloat, the greater our consideration for our flaws. The greater our consideration of our flaws, the greater the understanding of others’ flaws. The greater the understanding of each others’ faults, the greater the acceptance of imperfection. The greater the acceptance of imperfection, the kinder our world.
- Sometimes all that we are left with is a hollow of the self we once were and sometimes all that we are left with is a hollow of the self we thought we would one day be. In such winters of our hearts, pause, rest, look inward, draw strength and take pride from the distance you’ve covered and the storms you’ve weathered. Tomorrow might not bring the summer your heart aches for. If winter continues, let it find you bloody, but unbowed. That in the fell clutch of circumstance, you have neither winced nor cried aloud. And, that you rise up yet another day. Because sometimes the game is not about winning, but getting up for yet another round.

Questions – When to exercise free will and when to accept the will of god? When to call it quits and when to persevere? When are you thinking and when are you ruminating?

Life can be sad, but, you can still laugh at a good joke.
-
Wherever you go, your ‘self’ follows. If no peace within, then no peace without.
-
Silence does not mean peace.

People will applaud you, sometimes. Sometimes, they call you names. The only way not to be swayed is to be married to a cause greater than yourself.
-
When the focus on ‘I’ reduces, you can see peace walking towards you from the corner of your eyes.
-
Creative expression, not in the service of personal aggrandisement, equals meditation.

Wisdom does not preclude you from sorrow. Sorrow is inevitable. It is in the nature of things. Wisdom just makes you aware of that fact and bestows you with understanding of this inevitable part of life and thus peace. Peace is neither happiness nor sorrow. It is an understanding that goes beyond these.

Everything comes to a naught in the end. Every game ends. Stage must be vacated for those who come next. Don’t take yourself seriously.

Easy is the path of the individual who worships material comforts. Blessed is the path of the hermit who walked away from everything. Tough is the path of the individual who is unable to give up material comforts, but is also unable to turn away from the truth.

We swim vigorously, competing with others in the water with us. But, there’s no one waiting for us with a medal, on the other side. Why hurry, why compete?
