At work, our worth is determined based on what we bring to the table. But, after spending most of our waking hours at work, we think our worth outside work also, depends on what we bring to the table.
We think our worth will be based on how great a relationship we build, on what we make out of a hobby, on what we make out of ourselves. Because if work has taught us anything it is this – ‘we need to constantly contribute value if we are to survive or succeed’. So, naturally that thought extends itself to life as well.
In a relationship, we worry what we are bringing to it; we minutely scrutinize what others are bringing to it; we worry if we are making the best investments of our time-offs, to derive the best value out of it; we worry that our past-times are just past-times, that we haven’t been successfully able to turn them into hustles.
Our worth is what we make out of ourselves. Our worth is turning ourselves into the best versions of ourselves. (But, do we even know what our best versions of ourselves are? And, are those best versions constant?)
Is our life’s worth, what we ‘do’? Or, who we ‘are’? It a child’s purpose to grow up? Or, is it to be a child? Flowers don’t last long and they certainly are not unique, but, nature still poured itself wholly into creating each flower. Nature doesn’t value a flower less because it was not built to last. Nature doesn’t think twice about ‘wasting’ moon light on a forest.
Are we better served in life, if we learn from nature than from the meeting room?
This holiday season take a break from trying to make the best use of the holidays, from trying to create memories that last, from trying to be someone in the future.
Life is full of paradoxes. You find peace when you give up it’s pursuit. You find happiness, when you stop looking for it. You make memories when you are not focused about making them. You become who you are when you stop worrying about what you are becoming into.
Let it Be. Let it Go. Relax.
I feel very proud to read about my friend’s, views and thoughts about the daily life we lead, which gives us limited scope, to realise what much better we can do in our daily life and giving a thought about nature and it’s beauty.
