When did I fall in love with Apple? I don’t remember, probably it was the first time I saw an all-in-one aluminium iMac at a local computer store. It was the time when that concept was not heard. Then I knew, Apple manufactured gorgeous computers, but, I had my doubts about the OS. Added to that the computer costed a bomb, so I passed it over. The next time Apple caught my attention was when they released the iPod. I love mobile gadgets. Be it a gaming handheld, or a Walkman. I had an excellent CD Walkman from Sony, but, the iPod was revolutionary (I’d vote this as the best invention of our times). 40gb hard disk? That was the size of the hard disk of my desktop at home. I begged my family to give me the money and purchased it. I was in love. All my music library (which was considerable huge) fitted comfortably in the iPod I used the heck out of it. But, as time moved, devices got sleeker and sexier. My iPod felt like a brick. I bought a iPod Shuffle (Voice over edition). It was sleek, but, I had tough time with it – the voice over couldn’t pronounce the songs. But, I stuck with it. One day while working, I saw the ad for iPhone. My jaw dropped. A cellphone with only touch input? I wanted it badly.
Mahatma
LTTE, Al Qaeda, Taliban, Mafia, Naxals, various right-wing extremists/hard-core fundamentalists – violence is in vogue everywhere. Hate of all accords burns us. Some cause violence to defend/propagate their ideals – for what they believe is true/correct – the only right way to live, and for some, violence is business. It is easy to eliminate than change. Someone in your way? terminate them. ‘Civilized’ discussions are for who can’t fight. Peace is for the weak. Once it was said it takes a greater man to walk away from a fight. Today the same man is considered a sissy. Arnold in Terminator says, “it’s in your blood to kill eachother”. So true. We bay for blood.
7 Tips to be Disciplined
Over the last few weeks I’ve been gaming a lot and ignoring my blog. I know when I’m due for a new post, but, I’m consciously ignoring it. The game is just too good to postpone playing & neither is the guilt for not writing. I’ve found myself many a times in such situations – postponing because I hate to do certain errands or ignoring duties because I love lazing around with a book or in this case a game. I really wish I had more discipline. What is ‘Discipline’ by the way?
When will I be happy?
When I was a kid I thought I’ll be happy when I grow up, after I grew up I thought when I get into college, in college when I find a girl, then when I get a good job, in job when I get married. I noticed one thing, this circle never ended. What happened was, I grew up, college ended, girls came and went, but, happiness remained all elusive. I would be happy for a day or two when I achieved the goal. But, then again regular life would start all over again with the phrase: “I’ll be happy when…” Happiness always lied in the future for me with another goal to achieve. I eventually gave up the pursuit of happiness, ‘coz I knew I’ll not be happy even after reaching the illusionary “arrived” state.
15 Tips to Productivity
We live in an age of abundance. There’s too much of everything today – too many commitments, too much work, too much information – too much stuff pulling our head from every direction. The only thing we don’t have is: time. One great challenge we face today is to find time for everything, for all the various activities life throws at us, from day to day chores, to stuff we’ve taken upon by ourselves, to stuff given to us by others, all stuff we cannot run away from. If all we have is 24 hours, how do we cram all this work into it? How can we make the best use of the 24 hours given to us? In other words, how can we be most productive?
